NorthLink's latest pet-friendly initiative is set to prove pup-ular on sailings between Caithness and Orkney.
The company is offering access to an indoor dog lounge on the MV Hamnavoe's 90-minute crossings on the Scrabster/Stromness route.
Owners can now travel with their dog in the new upper-deck lounge while enjoying the sea view. The lounge is equipped with dog bowls and biscuits for canine customers to enjoy, in addition to modern furnishings and power sockets for their owners’ convenience.
Billy Robb, customer service director at Serco NorthLink Ferries, said: “Orkney is famous for its dramatic landscapes, expansive green spaces and beaches, making the islands an ideal holiday destination for those looking to spend time with their pet.
“We are also aware that many of our islander passengers enjoy travelling south with their dogs. After working for some time on this new enhanced option, we’re thrilled to see the dog lounge open and in action on the Hamnavoe.”
The dog lounge has space to accommodate up to eight dogs at a time. Priority will be given to those with a booking, so customers are encouraged to reserve a free place in the dog lounge when finalising their travel arrangements.
Dog lounge entry can also be added to a previously made booking online, or by contacting NorthLink.
The move follows the success of pet-friendly cabins introduced in recent years on MV Hjaltland and MV Hrossey as well as Hamnavoe.
