Scrap yard plan on outskirts of Castletown 'under consideration' by Highland Council
A BID to turn part of a garage into a scrap yard on the outskirts of Castletown is "under consideration" by Highland Council.
The application was lodged by Caithness businessman, James Riddell, in August last year and was validated by the local authority's planning department earlier this month.
Mr Riddell was previously granted planning permission but it only lasted two years. He has now submitted a plan which includes an oil separator, drainage and soakaway as well as 2.4 metre high earth bund to the north and west of the site.
He also intends to instal a timber fence 2.4 metres high, a scrap metal storage area and a 150 millimetre concrete slab with reinforcing.
The site at the Old Mossy quarry just outside Castletown extends to .9 of a hectare. There is room for 16 parking places, according to the documents submitted with the planning application.
