Scrabster Stromness ferry passenger numbers rise





THE number of passengers travelling between Scrabster and Stromness on the Serco Northlink ferry has increased for the second year in a row.

A total of 126,808 people were carried April 2015 and March 2016 – a rise of 3.5 per cent.

The Hamnavoe made 804 sailings over the Pentland Firth with it in dry dock in March when the route was plied by the Caledonian MacBrayne vessel Isle of Lewis.

Scrabster Harbour Trust also welcomed a record 11 cruise liners over the summer though there was a drop in visiting yachts to the harbour from 61 to 48.
