Scottish supergroup Mànran will be bringing their unique brand of traditional music to Caithness next month.

The multi-award-winning seven-piece will be taking to the stage at the Assembly Rooms in Wick on Friday, December 9, in a spectacular show organised by Highland Castle Entertainment.

Mànran have been at the forefront of the Scottish traditional music scene for over a decade. The Wick date is part of an extensive tour taking in venues in the UK and the continent, and it promises to be an unmissable night for live music fans from across the far north.

The band's line-up features Kim Carnie on vocals, Ewen Henderson on vocals, fiddle and Highland pipes, Gary Innes on accordion and vocals, Ryan Murphy on uilleann pipes and wooden flute, Aidan Moodie on guitar and vocals, Marcus Cordock on bass guitar and Mark Scobbie on drums.

Previous bass player Ross Saunders played his final gig with the band during the summer.

A spokesman said: “Internationally recognised as one of the most iconic and respected Scottish bands on the road today, Mànran show no signs of slowing down as they continue to push boundaries and explore new musical and geographical territory each year, bringing their uplifting and unique live performances to stages across the world.

“With three hugely successful studio albums under their belt, in October 2021 the band released their fourth, titled Ùrar, to critical acclaim. And adding to their success, lead female vocalist Kim Carnie was crowned Gaelic Singer of the Year at the 2021 Hands up for Trad Awards.”

Albums and merchandise can be ordered through Mànran's website.

After Wick, the band will head to Aberdeen and Glasgow before gigs during the festive season in Strathpeffer, Stirling and Portree.

Mànran have played in more than 30 countries, covering North America, Asia, and Australia where they were awarded the accolade International Artist of the Year at the Australian Celtic Music Awards.

They have gathered a loyal fan base worldwide due to their self-penned tunes, performed in both Gaelic and English, and vibrant live performances.

The current tour takes in venues in England, France, Germany and Liechtenstein as well as Scotland.

Invergordon-based Highland Castle Entertainment is promising a night to remember on December 9.

Founder Robert Donaldson said: "We are delighted to be bringing Mànran to Wick! Gary Innes and the guys are such great entertainers.

"We hope to make this a great success and to be able to run future events in the Caithness area.

"We will be installing a full production in the Assembly Rooms to provide the best quality of show. No expense has been spared in quality.

"Multiple sound and lighting engineers will be working together to produce a show to remember.

Tickets are on sale from McAllan's shop and the Nethercliffe Hotel in Wick and online via Eventbrite. Tickets are priced at £30.

Highland Castle Entertainment was founded in 2011, starting off with just one bouncy castle. Robert said: "Since then we have majorly expanded the company into things like weddings and corporate events, all done through blood, sweat and tears – and a lot of patiences from my wife.

"We have multiple offices in the Ross-shire area and in Wick. This includes our sister company Caithness Bouncy Castles who are also responsible for the takeover of Halkirk Bouncy Castles.

"We offer a huge range of services – power distribution, staging, lighting installations, sound installations, photo booths, printing services, transport, furniture hire, live-streaming services and much, much more.

"We hope people in Caithness support this event so that we can look into supplying the area with some of the best entertainment available on the market in years to come."
