An appeal has gone out to the local community for volunteers to help bring colour to Wick with flower baskets and planters and new ideas ahead of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee this summer.

Eswyl Fell of Wick Hanging Baskets Committee is appealing for volunteers ahead of the group's AGM to be held on Tuesday, February 22. Eswyl said: "Everyone is welcome to come along to the AGM at the Assembly Rooms. Just remember that there are coronavirus restrictions still in place though.

"We're looking for help ahead of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee this summer and we want to make a special effort for that with tubs and baskets. Men and women can come along and we'll discuss things that need done like repairing barrels and tubs and help with moving things about. We don't have many volunteers and they're all women, so even one man joining us would be great. We're also looking for anyone who might have new ideas."

The AGM is on at Wick's Assembly Rooms at 7pm on Tuesday, February 22 and all are welcome.

Volunteers can also contact Eswyl via her Facebook account or by emailing her at eswylfell@googlemail.com
