Santa will be at John O'Groats on Sunday as local businesses join forces for the village's inaugural Christmas fun day.

Activities start at 10am and will continue until 5pm, with the Christmas tree being switched on around 4pm.

There will be live entertainment throughout the day with carol-singing, accordion music and bagpipes.

Santa and Mrs Claus will be in their grotto and there will be a chance to meet Santa’s pony.

The local shops and food-and-drink establishments will have their own festive offers and complimentary mulled wine and cider will be available.

The John O’Groats Story Festival team will be running storytime sessions in the John O’Groats Brewery. Wick Voices will play recordings of Christmas memories and a new Granny Clyne story will get its first telling.

Local businesses have contributed towards a hamper for a raffle in aid of the John O’Groats Play Park.

Ian Leith, a trustee of John O'Groats Development Trust, said: "All the businesses in John O’Groats have pulled together to provide a day of fun and Christmas cheer. All you have to do is to come along and enjoy the day."
