Santa Claus due to make an appearance in Halkirk
SANTA, Mrs Claus and the elves are due to make an appearance in Halkirk on Saturday evening as part of the village's festive fun. They will be in Bridge Street at 6.30pm.
Events in the lead-up to Christmas got underway with the new lights being switched on – an occasion enjoyed by members of Halkirk Village Council along with families and the public.
The countdown to the switch-on was led by Halkirk Village Council chairwoman Sadie Kevill while Platinum Jubilee Princesses Ellie Kevill and Erin MacIntosh performed the switch-on. After the main event, there was entertainment provided by the Tutti Choir as refreshments and Christmas treats were served and Father Christmas made an appearance.
The feedback from the community on the new light display on Bridge Street has been positive, said Jane MacIntosh, secretary of Halkirk Village Council and director of the Halkirk District Benefit Fund.
She said: "The light switch-on was a great way to kick off the festive season. It was fantastic to see so many people attend and comment on our new light display. We are extremely thankful to the Halkirk District Benefit Fund for their support in funding this project. The new lights have certainly brightened the village."
