TWO men who were found guilty of carrying out break-ins in the Highlands received jail sentences at Wick Sheriff Court today (Friday).

John Hind (54), of Colne in Lancashire, and Matthew Peters (40,) of Bournemouth, had both previously been convicted of stealing a safe from Glenuig Shop and Post Office in October 2007.

Peters was also found guilty of stealing a safe which contained £7000 in money and stock worth £1926 at Embo in Sutherland in September 2007.

Sheriff Andrew Berry sentenced Hind to 15 months and Peters to two years in prison.
