The Alarm hit the highs of the UK charts in 1983 with their 68 Guns anthem and now the band's co-founder Dave Sharp will be playing at The Blackstairs Lounge in Wick this week.

Dave left The Alarm in 1991 and enlisted the help of legendary maverick record producer Bob Johnston to help cut his first solo record. In under a week, Sharp’s album Hard Travlin’ had been recorded, mixed and delivered for release to IRS Records. Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash have appeared on his recordings and he has performed alongside Kris Kristofferson, Bill Munroe and Porter Wagoner.

He told the paper: "I’m up here in the Highlands on a four week tour around the area. I’ll be playing a return show at The Blackstairs Lounge in Wick, after a three year Covid absence, this Thursday 20th April.

"The Blackstairs lounge is beginning a new music program to promote live music in the local community and I was thrilled to be invited back up to Wick to help out."

Dave has toured extensively and whether solo or with a band, guitar in hand, he delivers the "Spirit of Rock and Roll". His music has been described as everything from folk and blues to rock, country and punk; his performances as legendary. However, one word can never be used to describe Dave Sharp... "predictable".

The show will be on at The Blackstairs Lounge, 20 Breadalbane Crescent, Wick with doors open at 7pm and Dave will be on stage from 8pm for a special night of entertainment. Tickets available at: www.ticketsource.co.uk/whats-on?q=dave%20sharp and cost £8 and also available from HCE Services and TicketSource, tel: 0800 999 4441.

Dave Sharp has embraced mainstream popular culture whilst at the same time remaining "one step away from its grasp" . . . he says he likes it that way.
