I WAS educated at Wick High School and since leaving school have worked on the family farm at Stemster. I am 62 years of age.

It has been a privilege to represent the people of Landward Caithness over the past five years.

It has been necessary to take difficult decisions, especially in the light of economic restraints placed upon us all. I acknowledge that the next five years will be equally challenging.

The key issues are:

  • Retaining jobs in Caithness.
  • Creating new jobs in Caithness.
  • Retaining frontline services in the Highland Council.
  • Retaining rural schools.
  • Having zero tolerance to litter.
  • Addressing the ongoing problem with the state of the roads.

With regard to the debate surrounding onshore wind farms, I believe that Caithness must now take a stance and say NO to any new major wind-farm developments. We have to protect our beautiful landscape for future generations.

Unlike the party candidates, I will not make promises that are unachievable. I pledge to continue to be a strong voice for Landward Caithness.

My plea is that you will all vote. If I am not your first choice then I hope you would consider me to be your second.
