Diversions were put in place at Castletown this morning after a tree came down on the A836 Dunnet road due to the high winds caused by Storm Arwen.

The road at the plantation on the edge of the village was reopened once the tree was chopped into logs ready for the council to clear. Local diversions, round Castletown harbour or up through Thurdistoft, were being used while the work was underway

The log chopping was completed within one hour by Mark Rosie with assistance from Stevie Brown. Mark stated that he had gone out to clear a smaller tree and by the time he got there the big tree had also blown over in the wind.
