ALTERNATIVE rockers Fatherson are tuning up for a gig in Thurso later this month.

Y-Not Bar and Grill will host the Glasgow-based trio on Friday, May 27, during their Road to T in the Park Highlands and Islands tour.

The band, comprising Ross Leighton on guitar

Two singles from the band’s self-released debut album, I Am An Island – Mine For Me and I Like Not Knowing – secured national support and airplay from Radio 1’s Huw Stephens, Zane Lowe and Greg James.

Fatherson have played in the UK and Europe with Idlewild, Twin Atlantic, Lonely The Brave, We Were Promised Jetpacks, Enter Shikari and Frightened Rabbit.

Open Book, described as a soaring, heartfelt collection of songs, is the first fruit of the trio’s new deal with Easy Life

Recorded at Rockfield Studios in Wales with Bruce Rintoul (Twin Atlantic and Eliza and the Bear), the band hopes the album will propel them towards an extensive fan base.
