School cook Gwen Manson received a presentation marking her retirement after more than 18 years at Crossroads primary.

Pupils handed over gifts from a collection among staff and the parent forum. These consisted of a garden bench, garden centre vouchers, a planter that the children planted and a pot plant that they decorated themselves, along with other gifts.

A statement from the school wished Gwen a long and happy retirement and said she would be greatly missed by pupils and staff, adding: "Gwen is a keen gardener and the school will miss her guidance and green fingers in their own garden along with her constant steady presence in the school kitchen."
