Scottish Water staff are repairing a burst water main that is affecting water supplies in Thurso.

The repair is expected to take around four-and-a-half hours to complete, the utility said at 3.20pm on Wednesday.

It said earlier that customers in the area had reported an interruption to their supply.

In a statement it said: "While we carry out the repair please be aware that you may experience no water supply, low/intermittent pressure or discoloured water.

"The water supply will gradually return to normal for customers once the repair has been completed."

It added that it was expected to take a further two hours once the repair is completed for all customers to have their normal supply restored.

Due to the timeframe, bottled water was not planned to be provided to customers.

Scottish Water added: "If you require additional support, please use this link to sign up as a Priority Services Customer.

"If you have experienced flooding due to this incident and need support, please call us on 0800 0778 778 or via one of the other methods on our contact us page."
