POPPIES are going on sale in Wick ahead of Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day.

Frances Purves, secretary of the Wick, Canisbay and Latheron branch of Royal British Legion Scotland, said: "We are very busy with poppies and poppy crosses just now and have arranged times for making them available to the public in Wick. We have also distributed poppy tins to shops.

"Due to current restrictions we are unable to place poppy crosses in the cemetery but we will be placing them on the war graves. The crosses are £1 each as a donation."

They will be available in the Legion premises at Mackenzie House, Coach Road, this Saturday, and also on Monday (October 26), Tuesday (October 27) and next Saturday (October 31), all between 11am and 2pm.

"We look forward to chatting with you all," Frances said.

"We will also have them in the Tesco and Lidl stores in Wick. Please take change with you and put money in our tins."
