Reg Holder (Scottish Conservative and Unionist)

I HAVE lived in the Highlands for the past 12 years, having come to live here after a career in the oil and gas industry in the Arabian Gulf.

I now have a marine consultancy, working mostly in onshore terminals. Having spent six years on the board of the Cromarty Firth Port Authority, I have gained a good insight into the developments here in the Highlands and the need to take the industry forward.

The renewables sector is exciting and I am in full agreement that the tidal development of the Pentland Firth will bring new opportunities for the area.

However, I believe that we are now coming to a position of “a wind farm too far”, and we need to scale back on new proposals as these developments are beginning to seriously affect communities.

Having been chairman of the Conservative Highland Policy Forum for four years, I can say that we have looked actively at the issues that affect all of us living here, ranging from care of the elderly to policing our streets and fishing, amongst others.

If elected, I am committed to representing the interests of all the community and ensuring that their voice is heard.
