Rafferty wins Northern Nashville Country Music Club award for third time
Award-winning musician John Rafferty has won the Northern Nashville Country Music Club's artiste of the year for the third time.
He was presented with the award last Friday at a show in the Royal British Legion in Thurso. Rafferty, a popular and talented singer, has won many awards in his career, including Ireland's Got Talent.
Club chairman Alan Miller said: "John is widely followed and sought after in the country music circuit and a regular on TV and radio shows, but he has always remained a down-to-earth, approachable person.
"On being presented with his trophy and gaining his third star on the Christine Grey Memorial plaque, John said he will always hold Northern Nashville Country Music Club dear as the club presented him with the first trophy he ever won, and the people of the club are always welcoming and friendly."
Mr Miller added: "It’s a huge complement to our club when top stars of John Rafferty’s pedigree are willing to travel to the far north to perform on our stage. The costs associated with getting here and the time travelling are significant and its testament to the members of our club that we continue to attract theses top artistes. John is a very worthy winner of our artiste of the year having faced stiff competition from the many other talented artistes who have played our club."
Northern Nashville Country Music Club has a show on the last Friday of every month in the Royal British Legion in Thurso.
