Pyrography is hot topic at Latheron SWI
Latheron SWI president Carol Grant welcomed members to the December meeting and introduced Joy Jackson and Alison Stewart who had come along for the evening.
Mrs Grant then introduced Michael McNulty and his wife Anne, who had come along to demonstrate pyrography, the art of decorating wood with burn marks. He gave a short history of pyrography, which has been in existence since as far back as the Chinese Han Dynasty.
Mr McNulty brought along a selection of the tools he uses and gave advice as to which was the best equipment and types of wood to use. Several of the members went on to engrave some Christmas decorations in pyrography.
Mrs Grant thanked Mr McNulty for his very interesting talk and demonstration and members went on to enjoy a lovely tea served by hostesses Anne and Donna Sutherland.
