Primary school children at Miller Academy in Thurso showed they were streets ahead when they shared road safety messages with the help of some colourful "parking buddies".

Head teacher Jacqui Budge said: “Ian Graham from roads and transport brought the parking buddies up to help us raise awareness within our local community and to remind drivers of the 20mph speed limit and where to park safely, as there have been concerns about both of these things.

"Our Safer Routes to School group of our P7 junior road safety officers and parent volunteer Anne Livingstone were full of enthusiasm when building and then placing the parking buddies so that drivers could clearly see them.

"We were also grateful to be joined by the local parking enforcement officer who gave advice and who is going to be pro-active in including Princes Street visits to monitor parking.”
