Pupils at Thurso school pick up awards

Reading winners show off their medals.

Pupils at Mount Pleasant Primary School in Thurso received a range of awards before the summer holidays.

Presented at the end of term assembly there were three awards for reading.

Most improved reader awards went to Kiri Malcolm, Dylan Curran, Rayne Murphy, Sophie Gunn, Alexander Macivor, Dylan Cannop, Anna Mackay, Scott Turner, Islay Swanson, Danny Holmes and Caitlin Swanson.

Awards for most words read were presented to Aidan MacGruer, Heather Ford, Lily Hogg, Beau Cameron, Reuben Noble, Sophie Gunn, Nathan Orbell, Holly Mackay, Leon Cameron, Eva Cameron, Anna Smith, Kenzie Murphy.

And the prize for most words read overall was shared by Heather Ford and Reuben Noble

On the sports front Lewis Anderson was named P6 football player of the year while the P7 prize went to Andrew Sutherland.

Madison Murphy was named most improved netball player, with Heather Ford the netball player of the year.

Sports Champions were Andrew Sutherland and Anna Smith.

Heather Ford was named outstanding pupil, the first time this award has been presented at Mount Pleasant.

It was presented to a pupil who has, throughout their entire school career, demonstrated excellent conduct and embodied the school’s mission statement “We care…”
