Public urged to give views on Strathy Wood wind farm
PEOPLE in the Strathy area are being urged to comment on plans for a new wind farm.
E.ON is in the early stages of developing a wind farm at Strathy Wood. It would be located around 8km south of the A836, near the Strathy, and could feature up to 28 turbines, generating a maximum of 84MW of electricity.
The local community is being invited to a public exhibition to view proposed designs for the wind farm and to share opinions on it.
The event will take place on Wednesday, September 28, from 2pm to 8pm at Strathy Village Hall.
Ahmed Mulla, project developer at E.ON, said: "We think Strathy Wood is a great place for a wind farm – it’s very windy, has good road access and we can easily plug it into the local power network.
"We’re a very experienced and responsible developer, and will ensure that local people have their views considered throughout the development of this wind farm."
E.ON has already begun the first stage planning process for Strathy Wood and installed a meteorological mast at the site to measure environmental factors, such as wind speeds, which will inform the overall design of the wind farm.
