Public invited to attend weekly Archive Afternoons at Nucleus in Wick
Members of the public are being invited to delve into the archives at Nucleus in the hope that some may be inspired to start their own historical research and become regular users of the facility.
A regular series of Archive Afternoons will get under way at the centre in Wick from January 25, running every Wednesday from 1pm to 4pm in the public searchroom.
The sessions will allow people to explore the past and reminisce with friends, with no need to book.
Valerie Amin, archive assistant at Nucleus: The Nuclear and Caithness Archives, said: "In the searchroom we’ll have documents and newspapers from recent decades. The hope is people will come along with friends, family or on their own and enjoy taking a walk down memory lane.
"It’ll be very relaxed and informal, and staff will be on hand for a chat or to answer any questions.

"Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available in the hub at the front of the building, alongside displays of digitised videos and photographs showing Caithness in the past.
"We’re really just hoping that we’ll spark people’s memories and stimulate conversations.
"The sessions are designed to be sociable rather than focusing on a particular research topic. However, by visiting the archive and finding out what we do and the sorts of documents we hold, visitors might be inspired to start their own research and become regular users of the archive.
"There is no need to book – everyone is welcome."
