A quiet route aimed at encouraging active travel between Wick and Thurso is being planned by HiTrans and Highland Council.
The route, which would be around 20 miles long and follow single-track roads between the two towns, is one of five being developed across the Highlands and Islands as part of a pilot project.
An online meeting is being held on Wednesday, November 23, for all interested parties to find out more about quiet routes and how they may affect the community.
The Wick to Thurso low-traffic route is expected to link in with settlements along the route including Reiss, Watten, Bower, Gillock, Castletown and possibly Halkirk.
The route would be shared with motor vehicles but would be designated as a "quiet route" to encourage more walking, wheeling, cycling and horse riding in a welcoming and safer user environment.
Geroge Ewing of Cycling UK's Rural Connections project in Caithness is backing the proposals.
He said: "Having this quiet route within our community will encourage more active travel, make our community healthier, stronger, reduce our carbon footprint and reliance on motor vehicles."
The consultation is being undertaken by SWECO and representatives have already been in Caithness and cycled the proposed route.
The meeting takes place online between 7pm and 8pm. For a link to the meeting, contact Mr Ewing on george.ewing@cyclinguk.org
