Progress made in plans for new Rumster outdoor centre
A NEW outdoor centre at Rumster could soon be constructed as the group behind the plan heads towards the building’s design and obtaining planning permission.
Following a look into the feasibility of the project, the Rumster Outdoor Centre Management Group has been told there is demand for it so it will now push to see the idea come to fruition as soon as possible.
The centre has for a long time been a dream of the group after a similarly popular facility closed in 1998 and then burned down in 2006.
The group hopes it will provide a base for the activities which people travel over 100 miles from Caithness to Inverness to get access to.
Members are keen for local activity providers which want to get involved in providing activities for groups at the centre to get in touch.
They would also like to hear from anyone who would provide catering services at the centre.
A questionnaire to establish the likely usage of the facility by local groups will soon be sent out and the group is planning a road show which will travel as far as Inverness and Orkney to make as many people aware of the plans as possible.
