Prize performance from Wick High School’s pupils after ceremony returns

After a break of two years the Wick High School’s annual prize giving ceremony returned last Thursday evening, for pupils winning awards in the 2021/22 academic year.

Our photos show some of the prize winning pupils along with guest speaker, local hotelier Andrew Mackay, and head teacher Sebastian Sandecki.

Achieving 5A grade Higher passes Ewan Bartlett was named the school’s dux, for the past academic year while The John Geddes Shield for runner-up to the dux was shared by Faith Baijal and William Bullen.

Eric Baijal, director of BBM Solicitors, presented the BBM Solicitors Prize for Excellence in English and Social Subjects to Emils Andrusjaks, while Jevgenijs Milevics received the Kevin Costello Prize for Endeavour in Science from John MacBeath principal teacher in science.

Stephanie Richard received the David Lockie Memorial Prize for Technical and Sophie Manson received the Subsea 7 Trophy for Technical S4.

Both presentations were made by deputy head teacher Craig Ross.

A new trophy, the Hopper Award for Excellence in Computing Science, went to Lucie Ross, but she was unable to be present to receive her award.
