Prize bingo fundraiser for Wick drama club refurbishment
Wick Players are making good progress on a refurbishment of their base – and in doing so they are “laying the foundation for the future” of community drama in the town.
The next step is to hold a fundraising prize bingo in June with a big range of prizes courtesy of local businesses.
Jayden Alexander, Wick Players’ secretary, said: “It is shaping up to be a big year for us – it’s pantomime year! Behind the scenes, we’re already hard at work preparing for what promises to be a spectacular production to round off 2025.
“Alongside the excitement of panto planning, we’ve been making steady progress refurbishing our clubrooms on Moray Street.
“This year we are aiming to complete the refurbishment of one of our main halls in time for rehearsals. The work required includes ceiling repairs, fresh painting and the installation of new flooring.

“Having this additional space ready will make a huge difference to our production, particularly for choreographing dance routines and working closely with both the chorus and principals.
“To help us achieve this, we’re hosting a prize bingo fundraiser on Saturday, June 21, at the Seaforth Highlanders’ Club. We’ve been incredibly fortunate to receive generous support from local businesses, and we have some fantastic prizes up for grabs.”
Prizes have been donated by Kelly Munro Jewellery, North Coast Competitions, Wolfburn Distillery, NorthLink Ferries, Dunnet Bay Distillers, Mackays Hotel, Dunrobin Castle, the Castle of Mey, Caithness Seacoast, Pentland Ferries, The Home Bakery and Lyth Arts Centre.
Jaden added: “By refurbishing this hall, we’re not just investing in our clubrooms but we’re laying the foundation for the future of our club.
“This space will become more than just an additional rehearsal room – it will be a part of our creative hub where ideas come to life.
“With the return of our much-loved pantomime and the launch of our new annual Take 5! youth workshop, this hall will serve as a dynamic and inclusive space for people of all ages and backgrounds to explore the magic of theatre.
“From the first lines of a script to the final curtain call, it will be a place where confidence grows, friendships are forged and a passion for drama is nurtured.”
