PRINCE Charles will be carrying out a number of public engagements in Caithness on Tuesday.

The prince, who is known as the Duke of Rothesay when he is in Scotland, will be visiting Auckengill’s Caithness Broch Centre and the nearby Nybster broch.

At the centre he will be met by the Lord-Lieutenant of Caithness, Anne Dunnett, and will be introduced to those involved in the project as well as viewing displays.

At the site of the Nybster broch His Royal Highness will meet representatives of the archaeological trust and the Highland Council along with local schoolchildren.

Nybster is one of the most important archaeological sites in the county with evidence of history stretching back over 2000 years. Many of the finds from the site are rare for the area and include jewellery and Roman pottery.

The prince will also visit Caithness General Hospital in Wick to mark its 25th anniversary.

He will meet staff, volunteers and patients and see some of the facilities available including the CT scanner suite and physiotherapy gymnasium.
