Presentation to Dounreay apprentices 'really uplifting', says Jamie Stone
Seeing the latest batch of apprentices make the grade at Dounreay has been described by local MP Jamie Stone as "the highlight of my year".
Mr Stone joined Dounreay's managing director Mark Rouse on Friday to present seven apprentices with their indenture certificates. It means they are now fully qualified in their chosen fields, after up to four years of hard work and dedication.
In addition, awards were handed over to two of the apprentices. Jack Cormack won the Director’s Trophy for best overall apprentice, while Neave Anderson received the Lachie Macmillan Cup for the apprentice showing most potential.
Mr Stone, the Liberal Democrat MP for Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross, said: "At a time when our national leaders seem to be making a complete hash of things, it was really uplifting to see these bright young apprentices achieving their qualifications and embarking on their careers.
"To be honest, it was the highlight of my year to join these young people on a really special evening, one that I will never forget."
