Quoybrae, Aberdeen & Northern Marts on Monday, October 2 sold 4375 prime, breeding, store and feeding sheep.

Prime lambs (1035) averaged 235.8p per kg (+9.5p on the year) and sold to 257.3p for a 41kg Beltex from Upper Dounreay, Reay and £128.50 gross for a 53kg Beltexs from Bardnaclavan, Bridge of Westfield.

Breeding sheep (179) sold to £155 for Cheviot Gimmers.

Ewe lambs (501) sold to £132 for half-breds from Overton, Mid-Clyth (Sutherland).

Store lambs (1702) averaged £74.06 (+£8.85 on the year) to £103.50 for a Suffolks from Kirkton, Melvich.

Feeding ewes and rams (958) averaged £78.74 (+£4.14 on the year) to £164.50 for a Beltex Ram from Inkstack, Barrock.

“A quality show of 1035 prime lambs were sold with well-presented finished lambs meeting a premium return whilst dirty lambs were of little interest to buyers. Store lambs were an easy commodity to cash with the best bred lambs easily being knocked down in excess of £80. Another fantastic entry of cast ewes were very keenly bid for with a real shortage of pure bred ewes forward.”
