Wick Players handed over a collection of historical vintage clothing to the new Halkirk Heritage and Vintage Motor Centre on Saturday.

The collection of clothing, including period pieces, had been in the hands of Wick Players for many years. Some of the outfits have been featured in numerous local productions.

Club vice-chair Allan Bruce said: "Wick Players are delighted Halkirk Heritage Centre will to be able to showcase these wonderful items of clothing that are too fragile for the stage and, until now, being stored in the club's wardrobe where nobody could see them."

Club member Margaret Thomson made the official handover while wearing a Victorian outfit which was last worn by group stalwart Kathlyn Harper in the late 1940s when Wick Players took part in a sketch put on by some members of the community for gala week.

The collection was accepted by Janet Mowat, secretary of the Halkirk Heritage and Vintage Motor Society and society member Nancy Swanson, who were delighted to be asked to be the custodians of the "precious outfits" and are looking forward to displaying them in an exhibition.

Wick Players will also be handing over a second lot of Victorian and Edwardian clothing to Thurso Heritage Society in the near future.
