Following a virtual AGM the Canisbay Show Committee have decided to postpone this year's July date with plans to go ahead later in the summer instead.

Show secretary Leeann Hope said: "With things starting to look brighter but still uncertain, it was decided that we wouldn’t hold the 2021 show as we usually do in early July but would decide later in the year whether circumstances will allow us to hold it towards the end of summer. The feasibility of which will need to be assessed nearer to the time.

"We appreciate how important the show is to many within our community and with many local events being cancelled over the past year we would like to give people something to look forward to, but only if it is safe to do so."

She added: "That being said, the shows success over the past 30 years is mainly down to the work of our volunteers, past and present. Now more than ever we would like to encourage anyone who would like to get involved to get in touch."

The Canisbay Show has proved a popular agricultural event in the local community with a good number of livestock entries, particularly in the horse section.

The online AGM took place on Monday, March 22.
