Rolls-Royce plans to develop small modular reactors over the next decade.

The Scottish Forum of Nuclear Free Local Authorities has claimed that there is little support for new nuclear after north MP Jamie Stone pledged to fight to bring the technology to Caithness.

The Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross MP is to meet officials from Rolls-Royce, which is developing the new reactors and hopes to build the first one by 2030, to discuss the plans.

He hopes to outline the skills in the area from the ongoing decommissioning at Dounreay and push for the development of a reactor in the county, which would bring highly skilled jobs to the area.

Today, we are asking what you think. Do you want a new nuclear modular reactor to be considered for Caithness? Or should nuclear power be a thing of the past?

Have your say by voting in our poll below.
