PEOPLE buying items from the internet or Facebook group pages are being reminded to use a secure, recognised method of payment.

There have been incidents reported in Fort William recently where electronic items have been offered for sale at a “knock down price” with the seller requesting payment directly into a bank account.

Once payments were received the items were never sent out.

As a result police in the North have issued a reminder to all internet users to be on their guard and use such systems as Sagepay or Paypal as a secure ways of paying for items.
