Police to report nine motorists for drink or drug driving offences on Highland roads in past week

Nine drivers will be reported by the police for drink or drug driving offences in the Highlands during the past week.
Seven men, aged between 68 and 25, and two women, aged 23 and 25, will be reported in connection with detections by local police and road police officers across the region, including Caithness, Sutherland, the Black Isle and Ross-shire.
Inspector Richard Ross, of Dingwall Police Station, said: "Every single driver we find under the influence of alcohol or drugs is disappointing.
"All it takes is one driver to be under the influence to put other entirely innocent drivers and road users at risk. It will never be acceptable.
"Men and women of a wide range of ages have been stopped during the past week so this is clearly not an issue with one group of people.
"Tackling drink driving remains a priority for officers in the North Highland command area and we will continue to take robust action to remove offenders from the roads.
"We know that the vast majority of people do not tolerate drink or drug drivers and nor should they have to."
