PODCAST: 5,000 Thank Yous
These campaigns are successful because of readers who back it - find out the inside story below.
After the very successful campaign to collect 5,000 donations across the Highlands and Moray, I spoke to Gregor White to reflect on what he had learned since November with the Scottish Blood Transfusion Service (SBTS).
“The 5,000 donations that we went for was more than what they (SBTS) would get over that period”
Each blood donation can be split into three components - potentially benefitting multiple patients, including emergency treatments, surgeries, childbirth, cancer therapies and chronic conditions.
Gregor was also a first-time donor and was inspired by participants’ stories.
“It was so smooth. You do think that they’re dealing with donors on a regular basis they must know what they’re doing, but so smooth and so easy”
“Before I knew it (the blood donation) was over and I was getting stuffed full of chocolate, I honestly cannot wait to do it again.”
