Plug pulled on bumper fundraiser

The organisers are now looking for another venue for their event in Thurso.

A BIG fundraising day has had to be called off at the last minute, to the great disappointment of the organisers.

Claire Mccready and her friend Carrie-Anne Dallas had organised a charity fun day to raise as much money as they could for Cancer Research UK, the Scottish Spina Bifida Association (SSBA) and the Turner Syndrome Support Society (TSSS).

It was to be held on Monday, in Thurso’s Masonic Hall, with a big table top sale, competitions, a raffle, teas and coffees, cakes and sandwiches, a bottle stall, bouncy castle and face painting.

It has been called off because of the lack of a permit for the planned operation of a bouncy castle outside the hall.

Mrs Mccready said: “We’ve just postponed the event and have picked another day in August to hold it.

“I feel gutted about having to do it but we couldn’t have everything we’d wanted for the day and it now gives us a bit of time to get all the right permits in place.

“We’re going to pick a better venue and make it an even bigger day.”
