An opportunity has arisen to volunteer in support of Caithness and Sutherland Women’s Aid (CASWA).

The organisation, which specialises in supporting women, children and young people in Caithness and Sutherland to stay safe from domestic abuse, is looking for help with a side project, the Gift Project, which was set up in 2019.

The initiative involves providing gift boxes, containing necessities such as clothing and toiletries, to women, children and young people who are being supported by CASWA.

A CASWA spokeswoman said: “The volunteering role involves working closely with the community to advertise and accept donations and to create gift boxes on a request basis from the CASWA team.”

According to its latest newletter, CASWA is currently supporting 72 women along with 63 children and young people.

The organisation also says that it had around 50 referrals in the three months from July to September this year.
