PICTURES: Santa’s festive visit to Bower primary pupils delights all
Staff and pupils at Bower Primary School (BPS) in Caithness had a very busy end of term with many festive delights for all.
A special excursion to the cinema, along with other Caithness primary pupils, allowed the children to enjoy the latest Despicable Me film.
BPS and Keiss Primary School headteacher Sylvie Sinclair said that pupils from both schools met up with children from Crossroads Primary School to watch Despicable Me 4. They all seemed to enjoy their treat and get the chance to meet with the other schools.
Mrs Sinclair added: “All pupils integrate so well from each school and this was another opportunity for them to all get together as a reward for their hard work during a busy term.”
Then the BPS kids had a special visit from a Pets as Therapy dog called Rusty along with his owner.
“All pupils and staff were introduced to Rusty the retired retriever,” said Mrs Sinclair.
“We were very privileged to be his first school visit. He loved all the attention, and we look forward to more visits in the future.”

On Monday, December 16, BPS held its Christmas show in the Bower Community Centre. Bower pupils performed ‘Little Angel’ in search of something ‘Special going on’. Claire Henderson, P4-7 class teacher was delighted with their performance. “We had a few practices but the show on the night was just perfect,” she reported.
“All pupils really put in that extra effort and were not fazed at all when there was a minor malfunction with a CD player. The boys and girls in Bower have been amazing, they learned their lines and helped each other.
“Our stand in Turkey saved the day when one pupil was absent. It was a successful night and I’m sure they impressed their audience.”
Pupils were also over the moon to meet Santa during their Christmas party. Every pupil got a lovely gift and then all sang to Santa.
Abby Cook primary 1-3 class teacher said: “I am so proud of everyone.
“They asked Santa what treat he wanted to be left for him on Christmas Day and they all gave super suggestions, Santa is getting lots of carrots from Bower pupils this year and a bowl of strawberries.”
Kate Sutherland, BPS class teacher, invited all parents who were waiting at the end of the day to come in and enjoy the end of their party. “They were all having such a great time and said it was too early to go. So, I thought take their parents in and make the most of the fun.”
“It’s been a very busy but enjoyable term,” said headteacher Mrs Sinclair. “I think we all deserve a lovely festive break.”
