Reiss Gardening Club still growing strong – after 30 years
Reiss Gardening Club held a special celebration to mark 30 years since the group’s inception in 1995.
A cake shaped like a watering can and decorated with flowers was cut as members gathered to enjoy a soup-and-sandwich lunch.
The cake – baked by Shauni McAllan, the grandaughter of a committee member – was cut by two founding members of the club, Jean Mackay and Ray Richard.
The pair became the first members to receive honorary membership in recognition of their services to the club since its inception.
The certificates were handed over by Carol Place, the club's president. Another founder member, Jean MacLennan, also received honorary membership but she was unable to attend the celebrations.
The celebrations concluded with a musical afternoon in Reiss Hall.
