PICTURES: Prizes for young riders at Caithness RDA end-of-term event

Trophies and rosettes were presented to keen young riders across a range of categories at the Caithness Riding for the Disabled Association end-of-term prize-giving.
Chairperson Judith Miller welcomed everyone to the Halkirk indoor riding centre for the event, which was divided into three rides.
Coach for ride one was Steph Cowe.
Tracy McCarthy, who was an organiser of the Shetland Pony Owners of the North 2023 Shetland Pony Stud Book Society Breed Show held earlier, this year presented the rosettes. The rosettes, made by Gwen Atkins at Thrumster, were left over from this show and were donated to Caithness RDA.
The trophies were presented by Brian Mutch, of Caithness Indoor Bowling Association.
Wick High School YPI 2013 Shield for endeavour: Boew Wingfield.
Hearts of Gold Shield for best position: Finn McColl.
The Honey Trophy for happiest rider: Daisy Claasen.
The Jingle Shield for perseverance: Joshua Barnett.
Shield presented by Liz Hewitson for most improved: Callan Mackay.
The Melody Shield for best rider: Daimien McCready.
Steph Cowe was also the coach for ride two. Tracy presented the trophies and rosettes.
RDA 40th Anniversary Cup for most relaxed rider: James Campbell.
Wick High Charities Day 2013 Cup for achievement: Calum Traill.
Hannah MacDonald Memorial Cup for endeavour: Liam Aravelo-Bremner.
Whitefield Lady Zena Cup for most progress: Finn Mackenzie.
Barbara Fraser Memorial Shield presented by the Farmer family for best rider: Ronnie Dickson.
Maggie's West Coast Friends Shield for happiest rider: Gabi Yordanova.
Coach for ride three was Mary Elder, with Tracy again presenting the trophies and rosettes.
Monica Campbell Memorial Shield for most happy and relaxed rider: Lola-Louise Paterson.
Wick High YPI Shield for most improved rider: Oliver Jones.
Lady Jessamine Harmsworth Cup for best rider: Kayden Malcolm.
Curlew Shield commemorating the Queen's Diamond Jubilee for most enthusiastic rider: Watson Smith.
Raymond Mackenzie Memorial Cup for progress: Jakob Taylor.
Joan Treglowan Memorial Shield for most progression: Andrii Hrabchar.
Ponies used were Poppy and Byron, loaned by Steph Cowe, coach of the first two groups; Max and Geordie, hired from Marion Bain at Achalone Activities; Jojo, loaned by Carol Forest and Jaicee Johnson; George, from Marie Holland, but brought along each week by Sophie Bell; and Annie, loaned by Megan Gillon.
