Children from Castletown and Canisbay primary schools have enjoyed the freedom and excitement of a school trip at long last.

The P7 pupils spent a day at the Fairburn Activity Centre in Marybank, Ross-shire, last Thursday.

Head teacher Rhona Moodie said it was the first trip the children had been able to go on for more than 15 months due to Covid restrictions.

They got involved in fun team activities including paintballing, crate climbing and rafting.

Fourteen children from Castletown and seven from Canisbay travelled to the centre on separate buses due to Covid guidance.

Mrs Moodie said: "We were delighted to be able to offer this opportunity to the children, despite all of the regulations we had to put in place. This was the first outing in at least 15 months.

"The children had a great time and were very grateful for the trip. I would like to say thank you to the staff who were happy to be part of the trip as the children would not have been able to go without them.

"Thank you to the children for showing our schools in the excellent light that they did. I am very proud of them for this.

"The centre staff commented on how well they encouraged each other and worked well in teams."

The trip was funded with help from Stroupster Wind Farm and Foundation Scotland.
