A community initiative in Wick was busy making a difference to one of Wick's most historical highlights – the Academy Braes.
Members of Wick Paths Group (WPG) were joined by local volunteers on Sunday to clear up the steep path connecting Sinclair Terrace to Union Street.
John Bogle, secretary of the group, said: "A big thank you to WPG members who turned out in the good weather on Sunday morning to join in the clear up of the Academy Braes organised by the Royal Burgh of Wick Community Council (RBWCC).
"What a difference was made. The overgrowing vegetation from the side walls was cleared, the paths were weeded and brushed and five black bags of litter were collected. The hedge at Sinclair Terrace is badly in need of trimming but it is hoped that Highland Council will deal with this. In addition to those in WPG, another five volunteers took part."
The various steep paths that make up braes are now much easier for pedestrians to use without the danger of tripping and falling due to slippery leaves and overhanging weeds and shrubs.
WPG chair, Willie Watt, congratulated the selfless volunteers on their work saying: "Well done to you all for making the iconic Academy Braes shipshape again – looks brilliant and thanks to RBWCC for taking this initiative and to everyone that helped make it happen."
