A couple of roads near Wick harbour were closed to traffic on Sunday as a combination of a stormy sea and high tide led to partial flooding.
The rough conditions also caused seaweed and other debris to be thrown ashore, noticeably at the Camps car park and on the access road to the North Baths.
Parts of Martha Terrace and Market Street were flooded and these routes were closed to vehicles. The Service Bridge was also closed to traffic for a time when the tide was at its highest, with a police van blocking off access on the northern side.
It came after the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) issued flood alerts across three areas in the Highlands, including Caithness and Sutherland. High tides and strong winds affected many coastal areas, with SEPA advising people to avoid exposed coastlines.
Flooding impacts are said to be unlikely on Monday.
In a social media post early on Sunday afternoon, Police Scotland said: "Officers in the Wick area advise that the banks of the river have burst affecting the Market Street and harbour areas. The public are advised to avoid the areas."
A spokesperson for Highland Council said on Monday: "There was an overnight road closure in place on Saturday into Sunday on Victoria Place, Service Bridge, Camps car park and Martha Terrace outside the fire station due to the high tides.
"At around 1pm on Sunday the decision was taken to extend the Wick road closures into Monday for reassessment."
