Music to their ears for Thurso care home residents

Residents at a Thurso care home have been enjoying music and play with two blocks of Play Away intergenerational classes in the home.

The group of mums, dads, grannies, babies and toddlers brought music and laughter to Pentland View care home and residents and staff enjoyed singing along to familiar tunes, playing musical instruments, playing with puppets and props, and returning to their own childhoods while reminiscing about doing similar activities with their own children and family members.

In the nicer weather, the sessions were even taken out in to the home’s garden, where music and laughter filled the air, along with the songs of the birds.

At one of the outdoor sessions, the ducklings that hatched in the home even featured, swimming around in their paddling pool and getting cuddles after the session.

Activities coordinator Jeanine Sinclair said: “These sessions are sources of such happiness for the residents, and everyone at Pentland View looks forward to more in the future.”
