Local talent emerged triumphant as Emmerleigh (Emmy) Barter from Thurso was congratulated by the monarch for her wins as part of the women’s team. She had just signed up to the event “on a whim” a couple of days before it kicked off.

“I won my first heavy shot put and then went on to ‘weight for distance’ and had no clue what I was doing but managed to come in third,” said Emmy who went on to have wins in hammer, weight for height and joint first in caber toss.
