The first John O’ Groats Christmas Fun Day was “a great success” and “a starting point for future years.”
The event held on Sunday attracted a good crowd and they enjoyed the various activities which included a visit from Santa Claus as well as Carol singing, accordion music and bagpipes.
There was a number of festive offers from local shops and businesses also available to the public.
The Christmas tree was switched on and there were storytime sessions in the John O’Groats Brewery provided by the John O’Groats Story Festival team.
Ian Leith, a trustee of the John O’Groats Development Trust which helped organise the event along with local businesses and shops, said: “This was a first for John O’ Groats. Everything went well and there was people around all day.
"We amassed a good crowd at the lighting of the tree and the decorated reindeer as well as for the story festival.”
He added: “It was a great success considering it was our first time and it was not the best of days. We see it as a starting point for future years.
"Plans are afoot for next year’s event.”
