PICTURES: Industrial Caithness exhibition graced by musical talents
Music graced the upstairs of the Ross Institute last night (July 11) as jammers played everything except Mussorgsky’s famous 'Pictures at an Exhibition', said the event organiser.
Surrounded by artworks at the Halkirk venue were E’shed on Dram and Jam Tour, joined by Addie Harper Jr, Stuart Irvine, Lewis and Eleanor Lee along with other performers.
Project manager of the Industrial Caithness exhibition, Cally Maxwell said: “While the experts played guitar, floor drum, fiddle and viola, to the stunning voice of Shelagh Swanson, enthusiastic amateurs played the spoons, pan lids and egg-shakers.
“The jam session took place at the Industrial Caithness exhibition which celebrates art representing the types of work which are unique to this area. Music is an art form that brings people together and the Ross Institute is a gorgeous venue for it. Some musicians hadn't played there for nearly 20 years and had a great time using the space again.”
The session was supported by North Point and Wolfburn distilleries and there was squash for the youngsters.
Cally Maxwell from Sìdh Chailleann Art says she would love to arrange more music events in Halkirk. Anyone interested should get in touch via the website at: sidhchailleannart.com/
E’shed on Dram and Jam Tour play at The Shed in Thurso on Sundays and are always looking for talented noise-makers.
