An event for Wick's senior citizens called the Golden Years Treat finally went ahead last Thursday in the town's Assembly Rooms to the delight of the guests.

Formerly just called the Senior Citizens' Treat, it took place after an interval of five years due mainly to Covid, and a postponement because of the heavy snow. The event included meal and refreshments and then the entertainment began with a rousing set from the Wick RBLS Pipe Band, reported Eswyl Fell who provided the pictures reproduced here.

"Next, a few of Elise Lyall's dancers and some members of the Marrellian Majorettes gracefully entertained with a few dance routines," said Eswyl.

"The entertainment was completed with the ever popular Addie Harper, friends and pupils who played well into the evening, with a few of the guests taking to the floor. Everyone seemed to be really enjoying themselves, including the volunteers, and many caught up with friends they had not seen in a while.

"Every guest received a raffle prize, and a goody bag and special prizes were given to the oldest woman [Ellen Cowie] and the oldest man [William Ham] and the longest married couple [John and Sheila Henderson]."
