The Wick Gala Week fancy-dress parade made a successful return on Tuesday as youngsters' colourful and imaginative costumes ensured a difficult task for the judges.

The event at the Braehead is a traditional highlight of the gala programme and there was a big turnout of entrants and spectators on a cool but sunny evening.

Event organiser Anderina Cass, from the Wick Gala Committee, said: “It was lovely to see so many turning out, and we've had that through gala week.

“Every event that we've had so far, we've had just a phenomenal support from people – and we got that on Tuesday night. It was lovely seeing so many bairnies out and parents putting all the effort in to get them there.

“The weather turned nice so that made it better.”
