More than 100 talented dancers showed off their skills when The Mina Mackay Festival of Highland Dancing took place earlier this month.
It was the biggest number of entries for the event in a single year since before the Covid pandemic.
The event, which was held by the Mina Mackay School of Dance inside Keiss Hall on March 2, attracted entrants from across the Highlands and Orkney – from ages four and up.
"We had 105 dancers entered, age four and over, from across the Highlands and Orkney," said a spokesperson. "This is the biggest entry we have had since before Covid.
"As well as the section winners we also had trophies for the Mina Mackay dancers with the most points in the beginner/novice sections and the intermediate/premier sections – the winners of these were Alanna Campbell (beginner/novice) and Eilidh Rosie (intermediate/premier).
"And [there were] trophies for the dance school with the most points in the beginner/novice sections and the intermediate/premier sections – the winner for the beginner/novice section was the Tanya Horne school and the intermediate/premier section went to the Elise Lyall school."
The judges at the event were Alison Munro (Buckie) and Linda Napier (Arbroath). The pipers were Jack Manson (Thurso).
